Load Optimization

Learn how to create optimized stacking loads by defining carriers and adding boxes.

Carrier Settings

A carrier represents a container, pallet, or truck bed where boxes will be stacked. You can define one or more carriers per order. When more than one is present, the optimizer fills them in the order they appear on the Carriers sheet.

Carrier Dimensions
Each carrier needs the three dimensions below. Use the same shape on every carrier whether you have one or many.
FieldMetricImperialDescription
dimensionXmminThe length of the carrier along its X-axis. On a truck or container this is the long side, so a 13.6m trailer reads 13600.
dimensionYmminThe width of the carrier, across its Y-axis
dimensionZmminThe maximum stacking height (Z-axis)

Carrier Presets

Instead of manually entering dimensions, you can select from pre-configured carrier presets for common container types. This speeds up the setup process and ensures accurate standard dimensions.

Available Categories
Choose from 20 pre-configured containers across these categories.
CategoryExamples
ISO Shipping Containers10ft, 20ft, 40ft, 45ft Standard, High Cube, Refrigerated, Open Top
European TrailersStandard Trailer, Mega Trailer, UK Curtainsider, Double-Deck, Swap Body
US Trailers53ft Semi-Trailer, 48ft Semi-Trailer, 26ft Box Truck, 20ft Box Truck
VansSprinter Van (LWB)

Configuration Options

Fine-tune the stacking algorithm behavior with these configuration settings.

Shift Mass to Center
Toggle (on/off)

When enabled, the algorithm will attempt to center the weight distribution for better stability during transport.

Loading Direction
Selection: Back→Front, Left→Right, or Bottom→Top

Where the calculation starts filling your carrier. Back→Front packs against the closed front wall first and works toward the doors, the usual pattern for rear loading. Left→Right fills from one side wall to the other, for side loading. Bottom→Top builds complete floors and stacks upward.

Back→Front
Left→Right
Bottom→Top
Grouping: Load Groups as Separate Sections
Toggle (on/off)

When enabled, each group is loaded as one block. Within a carrier the groups follow the order you set in the Boxes step. Leftover space in a section is not filled by another group.

On: each group stays together
Off: groups can mix
Group 1Group 2Group 3

How to set it up

  1. 1

In the Boxes step, put the boxes that belong together in the same group. In the Cards view, drag a box by its grip into another group, or drop it on the zone that appears while you drag to start a new group. In the Spreadsheet view, pick the group in the Group column.

  2. 2

Drag each group by its handle into the order you want them loaded. Group 1 goes in first, deepest in the carrier and farthest from the doors. The handle shows once there are two or more groups.

  3. 3

In the Configuration step, turn on Grouping: Load groups as separate sections. You find it below the loading direction options.

While the switch is on, Bottom→Top is not available as the loading direction. If it was selected, the direction changes to Back→Front. Separate sections work with up to 20 groups per order.
