Excel Import and Export

One file format for every wizard: what goes in, what comes out, and what the sheets are called.

Import (Excel)

For bulk imports, upload an Excel (.xlsx) file. The workbook can include a Boxes sheet, a Carriers sheet (one row per carrier; multiple carriers can be imported in a single file), and a Settings sheet for optimizer preferences. The same file you export can be re-imported later: the two columns an export adds to the Boxes sheet, unplaced and inputItemId, are ignored on the way back in.

Excel Format
The Boxes sheet in your Excel file should have a header row followed by data rows. Keep the columns in the order shown below: the Boxes sheet is read by position, not by column name. Each dimension column names a direction in the carrier. dimensionX is the side that runs along the carrier from front to back, dimensionY the side that runs across it, and dimensionZ the upright side. Those are the Length, Width and Height fields on the form, in that order. Download an example file to get started: hovering a dimension header there shows the same explanation.

Carriers Sheet (one row per carrier)

Add a sheet named 'Carriers' with one row per physical carrier. Repeat a row to bring in multiple identical carriers. The importer collapses identical dimensionX/dimensionY/dimensionZ triples into a single entry with the matching quantity. The optional 'preset' column is informational only; matching against the carrier presets uses the dimensions.

Required Columns

FieldMetricImperialDescription
dimensionXmminThe box measured along the carrier. This is the Length you type in the form.
dimensionYmminThe box measured across the carrier. This is the Width you type in the form.
dimensionZmminThe box measured top to bottom. This is the Height you type in the form.
weightglbBox weight
amount--Number of identical boxes

Files saved before August 2026 use width, length and height column names instead. Those still import correctly, so you do not need to rename anything in a sheet you already maintain.

Optional Columns

In addition to the required columns above, you can optionally add these additional columns:

FieldDefaultDescription
groupIdAuto-incrementInteger (0 or higher). Boxes with the same groupId form one group. Groups only change how the carrier is loaded when Group Separation on the Settings sheet is set to segmented (the Grouping switch in the Configuration step). The lowest groupId is then loaded first. If omitted, each row gets its own group.
allowStackingOnToptrueWhether other boxes can be placed on top. Accepts: true/false, 1/0, yes/no.
allowedRotationsX,Y,ZComma-separated list of the ways the box may be turned. Z keeps it upright with a quarter turn; X and Y lay it onto a side. Example: X,Y,Z allows every turn, just Z keeps the box upright. Legacy true/false is still accepted.
labelEmptyText label displayed on the box in the 3D viewer. Max 40 characters.

Settings Sheet

The Settings sheet has one row per setting: the name in the Field column and the value in the Value column. A row you leave out keeps your current setting from the Configuration step, and the import overview lists it so you can check.

FieldValuesDescription
Unit Systemmetric, imperialThe unit of every length and weight in the file. A file with a Settings sheet but no Unit System row is read as metric. A file without a Settings sheet uses the unit in the column headers, such as (mm) or (in).
Shift Mass to Centertrue, falseSame as Shift Mass to Center in the Configuration step.
Stacking Order0, 1, 2The loading direction: 0 is Back→Front, 1 is Left→Right, 2 is Bottom→Top. Same as Loading Direction in the Configuration step.
Group Separationoff, segmentedsegmented loads each group as its own section, lowest groupId first. Same as the Grouping switch in the Configuration step. Always off with Stacking Order 2.

Export Options

Export your stacking plan in different formats for documentation, printing, or further processing.

PDF Instructions

Generate a printable PDF document with step-by-step stacking instructions. Each page shows which box to place next with 3D visualizations.

  • • Sequential loading order
  • • Visual placement guides
  • • Box dimensions and weights
Excel Export

Download the complete order data as an Excel file with carrier configuration, box definitions, and placement results. Every export includes a Carriers summary sheet plus one Placements sheet per carrier, named after the matching preset. The same file can be re-imported later to restore your full order.

  • • All placement coordinates
  • • Box dimensions and orientations
  • • Native Excel format with multiple sheets
  • • Exports in your preferred unit system (metric or imperial)
Excel Export Format
Each Placements sheet in the exported Excel file contains one row per placed box with the columns below. There is one sheet per carrier, named 'Placements_<preset>', with a numeric suffix when several carriers share the same preset.

FieldMetricImperialDescription
sizeX, sizeY, sizeZmminThe placed box's extents along each axis, with any rotation already applied, not its original (pre-rotation) dimensions
weightglbBox weight
x, y, zmminThe box's minimum corner: the lowest X, Y, and Z point of its axis-aligned bounding box within the carrier
orientationRx, Ry, Rz°°The box's orientation around the X, Y, and Z axes, in degrees. sizeX/Y/Z and x/y/z already reflect this rotation, so don't apply it again when plotting the box
inputItemId--Reference back to the row it came from on the Boxes sheet. Numbering follows that sheet, so input-1 is its first row. Placements sharing an inputItemId came from the same row, and the Boxes sheet repeats the value in a column of the same name. Not the same as the Boxes sheet's own groupId column.
label--Text label assigned to the box, displayed on the box in the 3D viewer

Next Steps

Placement instructions and the Excel file both describe the plan you see on screen. The 3D viewer is where you check it first.
